DESCRIPTION:French film director Henri-Georges Clouzot is noted for his suspenseful thrillers like THE WAGES OF FEAR (1953) and DIABOLIQUE (1955). A superb earlier (and lesser known) example of his highly influential talent is QUAI DES ORFEVRES (1947)–a\npolice procedural exploring the troubles of post-war France with telling character portraits. When a wealthy\, lecherous old man is murdered\, there is no shortage of suspects.
