Over 300 Run in 21st Annual NHTI / Delta Dental 5K

The 21st Annual NHTI-Concord’s Community College and Northeast Delta Dental 5K Road Race brought over 300 runners together on Friday, April 18 for the second event in the Capital Area Race Series (CARS)—marking the event’s largest turnout since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

Matt Chorney clocked a blazing 16:22 to take first place overall. Top honors for women went to Jennifer Mortimer, who crossed the line with an impressive 17:24. The event’s presenting partners came out strong with NHTI cross-country and track coach Graham Hayslip finishing sixth overall, and Northeast Delta Dental taking home the impressive “Best Team” award.

“I’ve run every single one of these,” said Tom Raffio, President & CEO of Northeast Delta Dental. “The environment tonight is awesome… I’m seeing all my old running friends and new running friends.”

The evening began with a high-energy Kids Fun Run, led by NHTI senior George Hoffman. After the main race, runners of all ages came together at the post-race BBQ—generously sponsored by Davis & Towle Insurance Group—to enjoy great food, cheer on award winners, and await the much-anticipated Red Sox ticket raffle. Proceeds from the event supported the Jennifer Kemp Memorial Scholarship Fund at NHTI.
