Almanac Predicts Snowy Winter – What This Means for Your NHTI Classes
We’re in New Hampshire. We’re going to have campus closures due to snow and ice. But, this year could be worse than most:
The Farmer’s Almanac, the perennial prognosticator written right here in the 603, predicts that this winter will be much snowier than last year, with the white stuff measured in feet rather than inches. There’s even the possibility of blizzards running up the East Coast in February and March.
But thanks to remote learning and early planning, your education won’t be impacted by impactful weather! NHTI has a plan in place to get you and your studies through the coming season safely.

In the event of inclement weather, NHTI classes will move online, allowing you to still attend courses while enjoying the flurries from the safety of your home. Your instructors may have additional and individual information and requirements, so be sure to contact them to clarify expectations.

If weather is forecast to impact our normal class schedules, announcements will be made in the following places:

- NHTI RAVE Alerts messages to your email, cellphone, and voicemail
- NHTI social media posts
- Local news and radio stations

Here are the 5 steps we recommend you take every inclement weather day to ensure you’re set up for academic success:
- Set up a home work space and schedule your day around other obligations, like shoveling, helping others, or digging your car out of a snow bank.
- Check your syllabus for the day’s work and faculty expectations. Depending on your instructor, you may be required to complete additional at-home work or attend a Zoom session.
- Request a meeting with your instructor if you have questions or need additional guidance. You don’t want to find out too late that a paper deadline was moved.
- Keep track of any updates on the NHTI website. Weather situations change quickly. We may need to update guidance to fit a shifting forecast. Make sure your info in our NHTI RAVE Alerts is current.
- Enjoy the snow! Whether you’re an outdoor person or prefer the inside, snow days can be a fun break from the expected. Be sure to schedule in some time for you to have some fun. Tag us in your snow day pictures!
