Academic Advising
Meet with an Advisor
At NHTI, we encourage you to work closely with an academic advisor to define your academic, career, and life goals. Whether you need guidance selecting classes, transferring to a four-year school, or clarifying long-term goals, an academic advisor is here to help. Zoom and on-campus appointments are available.
Interested in an Allied Health Program?
All newly accepted NHTI students planning to apply for one of NHTI’s Allied Health programs are strongly encouraged to attend an Allied Health Advising Hour prior to registering for courses.
The Allied Health Advising Hour helps you review program and admission requirements, application steps, make academic plans, and discuss questions.
Each student will be invited to a follow-up individual registration session. Sessions are held via Zoom every Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. and Thursday at 12 p.m.

NHTI Degree Works FAQ
About Degree Works
Degree Works is a web-based tool that helps students and advisors monitor student academic progress toward degree and certificate completion. Degree Works can be used by students who matriculated on or after the Fall 2015 semester or currently registered non-matriculated students.
You may access Degree Works by accessing https://portal.ccsnh.edu and selecting the SIS9 – Student – NHTI tile and selecting Student Profile, then the Degree Works NHTI link. You may also access Degree Works directly from the portal using the DegreeWorks – NHTI – Dashboard tile.
Yes. Like other applications you use, Degree Works is accessed through your secure log in. Advisors and selected staff are also able to view the information contained in Degree Works.
No. You will continue to register on the Student Information System after meeting with your academic advisor. Your advisor may also register you if you are unable to do so in the SIS.
The information in Degree Works is refreshed each night. Any changes made today (e.g., grade changes or classes added/dropped) will be seen in Degree Works tomorrow.
Using the Audit
A Degree Works audit is a review of past and current coursework that provides information on completed and outstanding requirements necessary to complete a degree or certificate. The audit works like a checklist that has boxes that are automatically checked when a requirement is met.
Your degree audit is a tool to provide you with academic information related to your degree or certificate progress. It displays courses required and completed in your degree program. Your transcript is your official college academic record and provides a chronological list of courses completed and other academic information.
Yes. The audit will show you the courses you still need and depending on timing, when in the future they are being offered. You should continue to work with an academic advisor. To learn more about the courses, including descriptions and prerequisites, you may refer to the NHTI website for the college catalog and course descriptions at
https://www.nhti.edu/academics/catalog.
You may view completed, in-progress classes or courses that have been transferred in from another institution. Information is refreshed nightly and may not reflect changes made that day. Please note that any transfer work or grade changes that have not been formally submitted and accepted will not appear on your audit. For a list of courses taken at and/or transferred into NHTI, click the three vertical dots under the printer button at the top right of the audit, then select “Class History”.
Yes. Courses from which you withdraw will move from “In Progress” to the “Insufficient” block on your audit.
Courses in Fall Through include courses you successfully completed that are not being used to fulfill the requirements of the degree/certificate listed at the top of your audit.
Courses in Insufficient include courses you repeated, failed or from which you withdrew. Developmental courses (courses that do not carry graduation credit) display in “Not Counted”.
Yes. Once a transfer evaluation has been completed and credit is granted, the transfer credits are posted to your student record and will appear on subsequent audits.
Grade processing does not occur until after all classes have ended for the semester. Each term Degree Works resets the In-Progress term to the upcoming term after completion of grade processing.
Yes. Degree Works displays core courses and major requirements in block format. Look for unchecked boxes to identify requirements that you still need to complete.
If you repeat a course, only the last attempt counts toward degree requirements. Once grades have been processed, the earlier attempt(s) will display in the “Insufficient” block and will not be used to fulfill any requirements.
Yes. Once grades have been processed by the Registrar’s Office, they are viewable in Degree Works. Please note that repeats and GPA calculations are not processed until the end of the semester.
Contact your advisor or the Registrar’s Office. If the course is approved for the other area, we can move it for you.
If you look at the degree information next to your name at the top of the screen, you’ll notice that the degree box has a drop-down arrow. Use this to select your second degree/certificate. Once you make your selection, click on “Process”. An audit with the additional degree/certificate will display.
Yes. Audits are automatically saved. Choose View historic audit to view a previous audit. To print your audit, select the printer button (top right) then Open PDF. Once PDF is open select printer button. You can also select download button to save a copy of the audit.
Not necessarily. You need to submit an Intent to Graduate or Certificate Request form to the Registrar’s Office. Once submitted the Registrar’s Office will perform an audit of your coursework. After final grades have been submitted, a final audit is completed to determine if you are eligible to receive your degree or certificate. Missing requirements will be communicated to you by your academic advisor.
Please contact your academic advisor or the Registrar’s Office for any additional questions:

Your advisor can be found in SIS9-Student, Student Profile page.

Using the "What If" Tool
The “What If” function allows you to see how your coursework might apply to a different major. The “What If” audit will list coursework required for the new program, courses you have taken that satisfy requirements, and what classes are left for you to take.
No. The “What If” function is for informational purposes only. Note that transfer credits are awarded based on your current program of study and will be reevaluated when you officially change to a new major.
Yes. What If’s are automatically saved. Choose View historic audit to view a previous audit. To print your audit, select the printer button (top right) then Open PDF. Once PDF is open select printer button. You can also select download button to save a copy of the audit.
