NHTI President Addresses Gov. Sununu’s Budget Plan for N.H. Colleges

Friends on NHTI campus

Dear Students,

You may have seen reports that Gov. Sununu has proposed changes to the structure of New Hampshire’s public systems of higher education – the Community College System of NH (of which NHTI is a member) and the University System of N.H. The most important thing for you to know is that these conversations will in no way disrupt your learning experience. Your success is at the core of our mission and always will be.

Currently, each system is overseen by a separate board of trustees, which is the policy-making entity for each. What the governor proposed is to replace those two boards with a single one charged with restructuring the institutions into one unified system. This is just an initial proposal; it will go through the legislative process over the next several months. The outcome of this process is unknown.

In the next week or so, we will post a survey on the college website (www.nhti.edu) for students and others to note any questions or concerns. Please feel free to share your thoughts about what has been proposed.

We will keep you informed as these conversations unfold over the next few months.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gretchen Mullin-Sawicki
President, NHTI – Concord’s Community College
