We present a tribute to Robert Redford–actor, producer, Oscar-winning director and founder of the Sundance Film Festival (and Institute). With so many memorable films to choose from, a representative choice was difficult to make. We decided on THE STING (1973)—in which Redford marvelously plays a Depression-era grifter who instigates an elaborate con to avenge a friend’s death. He received his only “Best Actor” Oscar nomination for this performance as Johnny Hooker. But he, along with Brando, Nicholson and Pacino lost to Jack Lemmon that year! Please join us to salute Redford and the charm, humor and nifty plot twists of THE STING.
