NHTI Announces Gift for Visual Arts
Equipment Enhances Student Learning
CONCORD, NH – NHTI, Concord’s Community College announces an equipment donation for the Visual Arts program. Donors Paul Arsenault and Beverly Reed, of Atkinson, NH, graciously donated $3,000 worth of well-loved darkroom equipment and cameras.
It was important to Paul and Beverly that their collection go specifically to a school. They toured the darkroom printing and developing labs on campus while Farnum Hall was still undergoing renovations. Visual Arts’ department chair, Susan Haas, is pleased that these donations increase the number of printing stations for the program with supporting photo equipment, and increase the availability of equipment for the student camera loaner program. “It’s donations of all sizes that directly benefit our students who may otherwise not be able to afford the equipment that helps make art accessible to everyone, which is our mission,” said Haas.
NHTI’s Visual Arts program provides the opportunity to acquire a thorough knowledge of visual expression and broad exposure to the history of art in preparation for transfer to four-year colleges and universities and a career in the visual arts. The structured curriculum emphasizes visual perception, technical acuity, and artistic philosophy geared toward developing a personal aesthetic. The first-year curriculum provides all students with a common foundation in basic artistic techniques. The following year, students focus on advanced studio disciplines and prepare a professional portfolio of their work.
