NHTI Announces New Civil Rights Scholarship

NHTI Civil Rights Scholarship Announcement

CONCORD – NHTI – Concord’s Community College is pleased to announce the creation of a newly endowed perpetual scholarship. The Civil Rights Scholarship will be awarded to students who are actively committed to civil rights and the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion at NHTI and the in greater community.

“We are thrilled that this donor recognized NHTI’s core mission to promote a diverse, equitable, and inclusive society and is seeking to support our students through this generous endowed scholarship,” said NHTI President Dr. Gretchen Mullin-Sawicki. The donor, a local Concord resident who created this scholarship, wanted to give back and make a difference in the community by advancing educational opportunities at NHTI.

This scholarship will support students that have been personally impacted by racial or civil rights issues and have worked to make a difference in their communities, want to work on this while attending NHTI, and are looking to do so in their chosen field of study. Preference is given to first-generation college students.

Scholarships are available to full- and part-time students with financial need and may be used for tuition, fees, and room and board. A committee made up of the vice president of Student Affairs, the coordinator of Student Life, the co-chairs of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, and the coordinator of ESOL reviews applications and chooses the student(s) to be awarded. NHTI is accepting donations to grow the fund to increase the number and amount of scholarships available to students.
