NHTI Receives Grant from Bangor Savings
Paramedic Program Halfway to Fundraising Goal
CONCORD, NH – NHTI – Concord’s Community College is excited and grateful to announce that approximately half of the funding needed for the upgrade of its Paramedic Emergency Medicine (PEM) program equipment has been received. Bangor Savings Bank Foundation has generously granted $5,500 toward the PEM goal of $11,000 to purchase new equipment used in prehospital emergencies.
Reaching the halfway mark for funding, allows some of the needed equipment to be purchased by the end of January 2022 and integrated directly into classroom instruction and skills training. The remaining needed equipment funds will rely on the generosity of business partners, local industry, and individual donors.
With over 500 graduates of the Paramedic Emergency Medicine program, it is nearly impossible to walk into a municipal fire or EMS department, local hospital, or walk-in clinic in New Hampshire and not find an NHTI-trained paramedic alum working there. NHTI PEM graduates are well-prepared for a wide variety of difficult emergency scenarios that they will encounter while working for local Police, Fire, EMS, and other medical facilities because of the high-quality education they receive, which includes having the necessary up-to-date equipment available for training.
NHTI’s PEM program has been continuously educating paramedic students since 1977. The program combines medical courses, general education requirements, and specialty certifications taught by degreed-instructors using current equipment and a full-size ambulance simulator. Clinical rotations include on-site hospital supervisors and assigned field clinic preceptors in high-volume, fire-based, hospital-based, and private ambulance services in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine.
