NHTI Remembers Grace Orzechowski with Memorial Bench Dedication

CONCORD — NHTI – Concord’s Community College together with several family, friends, faculty, staff, and students gathered Friday, September 17th to dedicate a granite bench to memorialize NHTI student, Grace Orzechowski, who passed away in December of 2020. The beautiful granite bench is engraved with her name and is located intentionally at the side entrance to MacRury Hall – the entrance that Grace used most often while she was enrolled in NHTI’s Radiation Therapy program.

President Gretchen Mullin-Sawicki began the dedication with words that honored Grace as a kind and memorable student who will not be forgotten stating, “The bench is lovely way to honor the memory of Grace to all coming and going to MacRury Hall, where Grace spent much of her time.” Raymond Orzechowski, Grace’s father, shared words that spoke to the very essence of his daughter that included her passionate, kind, joyous, and deeply loving nature and quoted words by Grace’s boyfriend who said, “To know Grace, is to know love.” He invited all in attendance to visit the memorial bench often and to always remember her.

In 2020, the Grace K. Orzechowski Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the 24-year-old student enrolled in NHTI’s Radiation Therapy program. Grace’s two-year battle with brain cancer never stopped her from continuing to pursue her goal of providing care for other cancer patients. The Orzechowski family knows, “Grace’s courageous determination to fight on will inspire future students enrolled in the Radiation Therapy program to pursue their dreams of a meaningful career in healthcare.”

If you would like to help honor the memory of Grace Orzechowski by giving to this scholarship, contact Laura Scott, director of Alumni and Development at 603-271-6484 ext. 4239 or visit https://givenhcc.org/where-to-give/nhti/lascott@ccsnh.edu. NHTI invites all to visit the bench in her memory.
