Starting Each Day with Gratitude – Especially in 2020

Picture of autumn foliage in New HampshireAs I sit here writing this, I am met with a beautiful view. The branches on the trees moving ever so slightly, the sound of wind chimes in the distance and the leaves changing color with the promise of Fall upon us.

Can you believe its already mid-September? As I see the leaves falling and the changing of their color I can’t help but reflect back on this past year: 2020, a year that will undoubtedly be one for the record books. Although this year brought a lot of turmoil to our world, it is important to remember there is always something to look forward to. This could be something as simple as a new book waiting for you when you come home, a fresh cup of coffee in your favorite mug, or maybe it’s something bigger, a new car, starting a new class at school, a vacation. Whatever it may be, try and focus on the positive.

Someone once told me to start my day with three words of gratitude. It’s a great way to get your mind in a better headspace and remember what you’re grateful for. As Alice Morse Earle once said “Every day may not be good, but there’s something good in every day.”

With the last three months of 2020 upon us, try and keep a positive attitude and embrace the changes around us. Get involved, connect with others, reach out for help, be kind to one another. These are all things that can help propel us forward and make a difference.
