For current students and faculty/staff

Moving In

Arriving to campus can be exciting and a bit overwhelming. We’re committed to helping you to make your residence hall experience a safe and comfortable one.

Amenities

Your room will be ready for you to move in with the following items:

  • A bed that can be bunked
  • A twin XL mattress
  • Desks and chairs
  • Wardrobe closets
  • Windows with blinds
  • A dresser

Furniture items you may bring to school include a small couch, small coffee table or night stand, bookshelf, or drafting table. Personal furnishings such as shelves, cabinets, etc. must be free standing and self supporting. They cannot rest on any piece of furniture nor be anchored to the walls or to NHTI furniture. Additional items should be approved by the director of Residence Life before you move them in.

Wi-Fi and Internet Access

Residential students and their guests can utilize the complimentary wi-fi network “NHTI Res Halls”. Additionally, there are direct-wire ethernet connections available in each residence hall room.

Bathrooms

There are common single-gender and gender-neutral bathrooms in each residence hall. They are all equipped with multiple standard bathroom facilities as well as one handicap facility each.

Trash

Trash from your rooms is not to be placed in lounge, bathroom, or kitchen trash bins. You’re responsible for taking your trash to the dumpsters located right outside of your residence hall.

Laundry Rooms

Each residence hall is equipped with laundry facilities. Students may download the Laundry Connect app from our partners at Automatic Laundry to load their digital laundry cards with funds to pay for laundry.

Mail is delivered Monday-Friday to your mailbox in your residence hall. Mail should be addressed as follows:

Your Name
Your Residence Hall

We cannot accept COD mail unless arrangements for payment are made with the Stock Clerk prior to the arrival of the package. Outgoing U.S. mail may be deposited in the mailbox on the north side of Sweeney Hall.

Quiet Times

Each residence hall has quiet study lounges with tables, desks, chairs, etc, that you can use at any time. Be considerate of each other when studying in these areas.

Courtesy hours are always in effect. Residents are to respect requests of others for quiet and should not be disruptive of others, including neighbors and residence hall staff.

Nighttime hours are Quiet Hours when residents are to be especially aware of the volume and impact of their noise. Quiet Hours may also be extended during finals and break periods at the discretion of Residence Life professional staff.

  • Sunday – Thursday: 10:00pm-8:00am
  • Friday and Saturday: 12:00am-10:00am

No parties, socials or gatherings that would be disturbing to other residents of the hall will be allowed in the residence halls during mid-semester test week or finals week.

    Recreational Equipment

Each residence hall has recreational equipment available to resident students. Use of this equipment requires you to take an active role in preventing damage or abuse to the facilities or equipment. Ping pong, foosball, and pool tables are available. Contact a Residence Life staff member to sign out equipment.
